Salon writer Not sure if Obama can be trusted

February 16, 2012

Salon columnist David Sirota told Current TV’s Cenk Uygur on Wednesday that the president’s record of broken campaign promises suggests a second Obama term may be just as fruitless.

UYGUR: So, David, let me start with you. Are we sure that if Obama’s re-elected he’s actually going to raise taxes on the rich, go after the bankers, stay true on SOPA, etc.

SIROTA: I’d say no, we’re not sure. I’d say we’re not sure not just because of what he’s planning in his campaign but because a lot of the things that were promised during the original Obama campaign have not come true. And I would say not just not come true, but there are certain specific things that the president didn’t even really fight for. I got no problem with a president trying to get some things done and then failing. Really giving it the good ol’ college try. But there’s have been a couple of things that the president has done where he hasn’t even given it the good ol’ college try. When you put that next to him raising money from the industries he says he’s going to take on, once again, I think it’s fair to ask the question. I think it’s fair to ask the question you’re asking.
