Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden appears to have confused Jacob Blake with the 17-year-old who was arrested for shooting at rioters in Kenosha, Wis., during an interview on Thursday.
Asked by CNN's Anderson Cooper why President Donald Trump has not addressed the police shooting of Blake, a 29-year-old black man, Biden replied with a response about a different man.
"I don't know enough to know whether that 17-year-old kid exactly what he did, but allegedly he's part of a militia coming out of the state of Illinois," Biden said, in an apparent reference to Illinois teenager Kyle Rittenhouse.
Rittenhouse was charged with killing two people and injuring another Tuesday night in Kenosha. The shootings, which video shows may have been in self-defense, occurred amid continued unrest and violence following the police shooting of Blake on Sunday. Blake, who police said was armed with a knife, survived being shot in the back seven times after law enforcement responded to a domestic incident.
