Bloomberg: I'm Too Rich for TurboTax

February 19, 2020

Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg said during Wednesday night’s debate that he hasn’t released his tax records because he "make[s] a lot of money" and "can’t go to TurboTax."

MSNBC anchor Hallie Jackson had asked the former New York City mayor why voters haven't been able to see the records despite the billionaire previously promising to release his tax returns. "It just takes us a long time, unfortunately," Bloomberg responded.

"Fortunately," he continued, "I make a lot of money, and we do business all around the world, and we are preparing it. The number of pages will probably be in the thousands of pages. I can’t go to TurboTax."

Bloomberg, who is worth an estimated $62 billion, is the only candidate who participated in Wednesday night's debate who hasn't released his recent tax returns.

Bloomberg said he regularly disclosed his tax returns when he was the mayor of New York City and assured he would release his tax records soon.
