Pennsylvania's Democratic attorney general Josh Shapiro, who is responsible for enforcing state election law, said that President Donald Trump will not win the commonwealth.

"If all the votes are added up in PA, Trump is going to lose. That's why he's working overtime to subtract as many votes as possible from this process," Shapiro tweeted Saturday.

Shapiro said Sunday that he would defeat any Republican legal challenges to the election. In an interview with the Washington Post, he also accused Trump of actively undermining the election because he cannot win Pennsylvania.

"He’s doing that because he knows that if all legal eligible votes are counted, he’s more likely than not going to come out on the losing side here in Pennsylvania," he said.

Shapiro's comments preview what is likely to be a tight contest in Pennsylvania, a swing state that could be the deciding factor in the presidential election. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is narrowly favored to win the state, but most polls fall within the margin of error.

The Supreme Court ruled last week in favor of an extended three-day grace period for accepting mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania.
