Van Hollen: ‘We Are Not Close to a Deal’

Maryland Dem dodges on whether rumored Medicare cuts more than 10 years away would cut it with GOP


Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) said Thursday that Congressional leaders and the White House “are not close to a deal.”

Asked if a rumored plan that would delay cuts to Medicare for at least a decade would satisfy Republicans compromising on tax rates, Van Hollen dodged the question, saying the “level of detail we’re talking about is not something we’ve really gotten into yet.”
