Trump: If He's on the Campaign Trail, Bill Clinton Is Fair Game

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that if Bill Clinton is on the campaign trail for his wife, then he is fair game for criticism.

"If he's involved in the campaign he should absolutely, you know, he could be brought into it," Trump said. "I think fair game, yeah."

Bill Clinton has been on the campaign trail for weeks acting as a surrogate for his wife. When Trump was accused of sexism last year by Hillary Clinton, he pointed out Bill Clinton's infamous affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and his history of accusations of sexual misconduct.

Last week, Trump said spouses should be off limits when it came to the campaign, in response to a GQ interview with Melania Trump. Melania later trashed the article for "disingenuous reporting" after Julia Ioffe traveled to the former model's home of Slovenia and reported on her upbringing. Ioffe defended her article and said that since her husband was running for president, Melania is considered a public person.

Trump has also taken swipes at his Republican opponents before. In March, Trump threatened to "spill the beans" on Heidi Cruz. Trump also retweeted an unflattering picture of Cruz compared to Melania.

Earlier in the campaign, Trump attacked Jeb Bush and his wife Columba and her nationality.

"If my wife were from Mexico, I think I would have a soft spot for people from Mexico," Trump said in July.

When Bush demanded an apology at the September Republican Presidential debate, Trump refused. A central focus for Trump's campaign has been to build a wall between Mexico and the United States, and getting Mexico to pay for it.

Trump continued his interview with Stephanopoulos by saying that he loves women and works well with them. In a Gallup poll, seven in ten women have an unfavorable view of Trump.
