Scarborough Roasts Trump Cabinet: Haley 'Fundamentally Ignorant,' Tillerson Is 'Sad and Pathetic'

May 15, 2017

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough blasted key members of the Trump administration on Monday for how they are defending their boss, calling U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley "fundamentally ignorant" and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson "sad and pathetic."

Haley and Tillerson appeared on the Sunday shows "This Week" and "Meet the Press" on the heels of President Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey. Haley referred to Trump as the nation's "CEO" and noted he was within his rights to dismiss Comey, Mediaite reports.

"You have the ambassador of the United Nations calling him the CEO of the country," Scarborough said. "Fundamentally ignorant, fundamentally ignorant of our constitutional republic and the constitution, the system that's been put in place."

Tillerson told "Meet the Press" he was "devoted" to helping Trump achieve his objectives and felt he constantly needed to win his confidence. Scarborough disparagingly compared Tillerson to a golf caddy but quipped a caddy might "talk back to you."

"And Rex Tillerson cowering like he's a caddy," Scarborough said. "Saying he's, quote, devoted to the president. Cowering like a poor, pathetic—I can't even say caddy because most caddies will talk back to you."

"Perhaps valet is the word you're looking for?" panelist John Heilemann asked.

"I don't know what word I'm looking for, but it's sad and pathetic that the secretary of state feels like he has to say that he's, quote, devoted to a president who is again shredding democratic norms every day," Scarborough said.
