Scaramucci: 'We've Got to Get the Leaks Stopped'

July 23, 2017

Incoming White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said "we’ve got to get the leaks stopped" in reference to what his first order of business will be when he steps into his role.

On "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace asked Scaramucci how the disconnect between the way the press sees the president and the way his advisors and administration sees him can be closed.

Scaramucci said that the hard part would not be closing the disconnect, but that the most critical thing that needs to be done as he steps into his new role is to get everything reorganized.

"We’ve got to get the leaks stopped, Chris," Scaramucci said. "It’s Washington so it’s going to be impossible to stop all of them, but I think what’s going on right now is a high level of unprofessionalism, and it’s not serving the president."

Scaramucci will be traveling with President Donald Trump this week where he will be "refocusing and refining" the message from the White House to the American people.

"[Trump] is one of the most effective communicators that’s ever been born," Scaramucci said. "And we’re going to make sure that we get that message out directly to the American people."

Wallace asked Scaramucci what sort of drastic actions he would be taking to stop the leaks.

"If the leaks don’t stop, I’m going to pare down the staff. It’s just not right, Chris," Scaramucci said. "It’s not fair to the president. It’s actually not fair to America."
