Rubio Speaks to Supporters After 'Super Tuesday' Results

Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) addressed supporters in Miami on the night of Super Tuesday, although it came before he picked up his first victory of the campaign in Minnesota.

Frontrunner Donald Trump edged Rubio in Virginia, a state the Rubio campaign hoped to pick up, and Trump also had won Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Massachusetts and Arkansas as of this article's publication.

Rubio continued his recent sharp attacks against Trump and hit his usual stump notes on strong foreign policy and opposing the domestic agenda of President Obama.

"We are so excited about what lies ahead for our campaign," Rubio said, trumpeting his ability to "unmask" Trump.

Rubio noticeably changed his tone with regard to Trump in the last week, blistering him at last Thursday's debate and mocking him about everything from the size of his hands to his tan to his inability to spell on Twitter. More seriously, he's warned Trump is a "con artist" who cannot be the GOP nominee.

"Of all the places in America, and I have traveled this country now, and I'm so proud to be back, because there is no place in America that understands the American dream better than this community and this great state of Florida," Rubio said.

Rubio is looking ahead to the March 15 Florida primary, where he is trailing Trump in the polls in the winner-take-all state.

Trump has sharpened his attacks as well against Rubio, calling him "lightweight" and "little Marco."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) won his home state of Texas, as well as Oklahoma, on Tuesday evening.
