Poll: Gianforte Leads Quist by 15 Points in Montana House Race

A new poll shows Republican Greg Gianforte leading Democrat Rob Quist by 15 points in the special election race for Montana's lone seat in the House of Representatives.

Gianforte led Quist 52 percent to 37 percent in the Emerson College poll, with seven percent saying they were undecided. In-person voting will take place for the race on May 25.

The poll mirrored another survey taken earlier this month showing Gianforte with a 12-point lead, NTK Network reports. Gianforte ran unsuccessfully for governor of Montana in 2016.

Gianforte and Quist are bidding to replace former Rep. Ryan Zinke, who is now serving as interior secretary in the Trump administration.

Quist, a well-known local musician, is a frequent performer at the Sun Meadow resort, a nudist colony in Idaho.

The Montana race is the third special House red-state election this year to replace congressmen who joined the Trump administration.

Republicans already notched a win in Kansas, when Rep. Ron Estes (R., Kan.) defeated James Thompson for the fourth district seat vacated by new CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

In Georgia's sixth district race to replace Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, Democrat Jon Ossoff finished first in a crowded race but did not get over 50 percent, putting him in a June runoff against Republican Karen Handel.
