Police Investigating Break-In, 'Threatening Note' at Nevada GOP Senator's Office

Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller confirmed Sunday that his Las Vegas office was broken into over the weekend.

Metropolitan Police Lt. Patricia Spencer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the suspected break-in occurred Saturday just before 9 a.m. A Heller spokesman confirmed the investigation, but offered no comment.

Local CBS station8 News NOW reports that there was also a "threatening note" left at the office. Nevada Independent reporter Jon Ralston wrote that the note essentially stated that if Heller supported the repeal bill in the Senate, "I will lose my health care and die, and you will, too." Metro Police have declined to reveal the note's exact contents.

Heller is considered a key swing vote in the ongoing Republican effort to repeal Obamacare. Heller announced in June that he would not support the Senate bill in its current form, and both Democrats and Republicans alike have relentlessly campaigned for his vote.

The reported threat against Heller would be the third such threat directed at a Republican senator in the past month. An Iowa man was arrested for threatening to kill Sen. Joni Ernst (R., Iowa) in early July, the day after a Tucson, Ariz. man was arrested for threatening Sen. Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.).
