NH Voter: ‘I Just Right Now Can't Vote for Hillary, I Can't Believe Her’

February 3, 2016

A New Hampshire Democrat who is still unsure who he will vote for in his state’s Democratic primary told MSNBC on Wednesday he cannot support Hillary Clinton because he does not trust what she says.

MSNBC reporter Kate Snow asked the man what he wants to hear from the two candidates, Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), at the debate set to be aired Thursday night on MSNBC.

"They’ve been saying the same things over and over," the New Hampshire man said.

He also said "that they both have a lot of good things to say," but "I think for me, I just right now can't vote for Hillary. I can't believe her."

The New Hampshire Democrat’s words come as Clinton continues to battle low poll numbers when it comes to her honesty and trustworthiness.

The FBI has been investigating Clinton's email use since at least August to determine if she mishandled classified information over her private email server while serving as secretary of state.

This federal investigation and the controversy surrounding her role in the aftermath of the 2012 Benghazi attacks have contributed to voters' perception that she is dishonest.

Commentators have said these factors bolstered Sanders’ recent surge in the polls, which propelled him to a virtual tie with Clinton in the Iowa caucuses after trailing behind her by wide margins.

Sanders maintains a large, double-digit lead over Clinton in New Hampshire and is expected to win the state.

The Clinton campaign believes it would still have the advantage with a loss in New Hampshire, citing the former secretary of state's popularity among minorities in the South, which holds crucial early primaries.

Some commentators have said Clinton's so-called firewall in the South may not hold up if Sanders wins big in New Hampshire and gains momentum.
