New Ad Raises Questions About Ossoff's Ties to Al Jazeera

The Congressional Leadership Fund released an advertisement on Tuesday raising questions about Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff's ties to Al Jazeera, the controversial news network funded by the Emir of Qatar.

Ossoff, who is running to fill the congressional seat vacated by Tom Price earlier this year in Georgia's sixth district, has come under fire for reportedly receiving thousands of dollars from Al Jazeera.

The ad–titled "Jon Ossoff: How Can We Trust Him?"–notes that Al Jazeera has previously been called "a mouthpiece for terrorists," before describing the news outlet's connection to Ossoff.

Al Jazeera "has been paying Jon Ossoff thousands of dollars," the ad says, citing a Washington Free Beacon report from last month. It points out that Ossoff has refused to disclose exactly how much he has been paid, beyond the roughly $5,000 filed in his financial disclosure report.

The Congressional Leadership Fund ad ties Ossoff's unwillingness to disclose how much money he has received from Al Jazeera to the confusion surrounding his exaggerated national security record.

"But Jon refuses to tell voters exactly how much money he's received. Just like Jon refuses to tell voters the truth about his experience," a narrator says in the ad.

Ossoff claims he spent five years working on national security issues for Rep. Hank Johnson (D., Ga.), who once compared Jewish Israeli settlers to termites, with a security clearance. But he actually worked for just over two years as an aide, and only received a security clearance five months before finishing the job.

"What is he hiding? How can we trust him?" the ad asks of Ossoff.

Ossoff is the Democratic frontrunner in Georgia's sixth district. His campaign has raked in over $3 million in contributions and drawn liberal celebrities to stump for him.
