MSNBC Host Snaps at Member of Trump Team for 'Generalizing' Media

January 6, 2017

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle snapped at Steve Cortes, a member of President-elect Donald Trump's National Hispanic Advisory Council, on Friday for "generalizing" the mainstream media.

The two were having a heated debate about Trump's comments regarding Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election when Ruhle made the remark.

"It's what the mainstream media has been saying for weeks, which is that the election was hacked, and that's simply not true," Cortes said before Ruhle tried to cut in.

"Steve," Ruhle said five times while Cortes tried to explain his point.

"The DNC [Democratic National Committee] was hacked, and the majority in polls, the majority of Democratic voters believe that actual vote tallies were manipulated by Russia," he said. "That's a fact."

Ruhle then snapped at Cortes.

"I'm not going to let you make a generalization about the media because here we are, you and I" she said. "I'm not making a generalization about anything. I'm not saying that the election would have been different had the hacking not have happened."

This is not the first time that Ruhle has raised her voice on air at someone who supported Trump.

Back in August, she told former Trump adviser Barry Bennett and former Trump staffer Michael Caputo that she was not going to allow a comment that insinuated the media was only covering what Hillary Clinton wanted them to.

Ruhle had asked the two men if Trump's campaign was in chaos.

Caputo said it was not in chaos and people only think so because "the media is covering what Hillary Clinton wants."

"You know what? I'm not going to allow that," Ruhle said. "You're saying the media is only covering what Hillary Clinton wants. These are Donald Trump's words day in and day out. They have nothing to do with Hillary Clinton."
