MSNBC: Slow Economic Recovery Under Obama For Many Americans

June 21, 2016

MSNBC correspondent Kasie Hunt said economic recovery has been slow "for many Americans" during her report on Hillary Clinton's speech Tuesday.

Clinton attacked Republican rival Donald Trump's business acumen in her economic address, quipping all his business books ended in "chapter 11" and saying he would "rig the economy for Wall Street again."

However, Hunt said that Clinton was not quite in her wheelhouse in attacking Trump in that area, citing the poor recovery and flat wages still plaguing the economy.

"The challenge, of course, that the economy under President Obama has been, for many Americans, slow to recover," Hunt said. "Wages, of course, have not kept pace. Many people are working more than one job, and so she has to make a speech that essentially says I understand your frustration, but here's how this is all going to play out. I think for a lot of voters, Donald Trump is actually an embodiment of their frustration, and I think that's the difficult piece for her.

"We definitely saw the same Hillary Clinton who was in a groove attacking Donald Trump on national security today, but the ground was a little bit less solid."

Obama and Clinton consistently remind voters he took office in the midst of the "worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."
