MSNBC Panel Calls Out Clinton for ‘So Much Plotting, So Much Scheming’

October 18, 2016

MSNBC’s Morning Joe panel castigated Hillary Clinton on Thursday for a multitude of bad decisions regarding her private email server, particularly for doing "so much plotting, so much scheming, [and] so much calculating."

Co-host Mika Brzezinski interrupted a critique of the FBI investigation into Clinton’s use of a private server while at the State Department to blame Clinton for the whole situation.

"Guess why we’re here. That’s all I’m going to say," Brzezinski said. "Because the reason we’re here, and the reason that we’re having this unbelievable conversation, starts somewhere."

When co-host Joe Scarborough asked if that "start" was Clinton’s decision to set up the home-brewed server, Brzezinski said "it just doesn’t make any sense."

Panelist Jim VandeHei followed up by labeling the private server controversy a "hot mess."

"[Clinton used it] against precedent and advice," VandeHei said. "That, to me, is what people have jumped on, pounced on, and rightly ridiculed her for."

VandeHei suggested that both Clinton’s use of a private server and new reports of a senior State Department official trying to declassify one of her emails have showcased her dissembling character.

"With Hillary Clinton, you know exactly what you’re getting. There’s so much plotting, so much scheming, so much calculating—that’s what got her into trouble," VandeHei said.

He pointed out that all of Clinton’s negative press coverage keeps circling back to the email scandal

"[That] sin is the original sin," he said.
