Mom of WA Dem donated 98 percent of her super PAC funds

The super PAC of a Washington state Democratic candidate for Congress has been funded almost entirely by the candidate's mother, Federal Elections Committee filings show.

Progress for Washington — a PAC affiliated with Laura Ruderman, a candidate for the 1st Congressional District seat in Washington — has raised $220,000 this cycle. But $215,000 of the total has come from a single donor, Margaret Rothschild — Ruderman's mother.

The donations from Ruderman's mother garnered headlines in June, when she was the sole, $115,000 donor to the group.

The group was launched to run attack ads against the business record of Ruderman's primary opponent.

Politico's Ken Vogel first reported the new FEC filings.
