Local Reporter Sucks Up to Hillary Clinton During Interview

June 22, 2016

A local reporter in North Carolina spent the majority of his excerpted interview with Hillary Clinton sucking up to the presidential candidate while discussing Donald Trump’s recent attacks against her.

David Crabtree called it "amazing" to hear her speak and repeatedly called her a "strong" person in his exchange.

In his one-on-one exclusive interview with the presumptive Democratic nominee, Crabtree chose to use the opportunity to ask Clinton how she feels about Trump attacking her with several accusations.

Crabtree said prior to the interview that he and Clinton chose to speak about issues that matter to the people of North Carolina and asked what she thinks about the controversial House Bill II, which in part states that individuals should use the public restrooms that match the sex on their birth certificates.

"But, we wanted to talk with her one-on-one and we did so exclusively talking about issues that truly mattered to North Carolinians," Crabtree said. "Specifically, we began with her response to House Bill II."

Clinton said that she opposed the legislation because it invites discrimination.

"I oppose the bill because it was much broader than any one issue," Clinton said. "It really did open the door to discrimination across the board. And I just don’t think that reflects the values of North Carolinians and I’m confident that the people of North Carolina say, ‘you know, we want to treat everybody fairly, with dignity.’ We could work out all of the issues that are raised but don’t legitimize discrimination."

The reporter then complimented Clinton on being a strong woman and candidate. He shifted the conversation to talk about her feelings when Trump says disparaging comments about her.

Crabtree pointed out that on Wednesday Trump called her a "colossal liar."

"You know, you’re a strong woman; you’re a strong person; you’re a strong candidate, and you’re a human being," Crabtree said to Clinton. "When someone publicly does [what Trump did], how does that fall on Hillary Clinton?"

Clinton said Trump’s comments don’t bother her because he is running a campaign of "desperation."
