Liberals: Still Politicizing Sandy

Adler
November 1, 2012

A new political advertisement from a Democratic congressional challenger in New Jersey compares the Republican incumbent to Hurricane Sandy.

A radio advertisement for Shelley Adler, running to unseat Republican Rep. Jon Runyan in New Jersey’s 3rd district, says in part:

In New Jersey, we’ve seen acts of nature do real damage. We’re also seeing our own member of Congress do lasting damage in Washington.

The advertisement attacks Runyan for voting against "New Jersey workers and families." The radio spot concludes:

"Shelley Adler for Congress: In the storms of Washington, she’ll fight for us."

press release today from the Runyan campaign condemned the advertisement.

Democratic congressional candidate Shelley Adler (NJ-3) should immediately take down and apologize for airing a radio attack ad that inexplicably compares Congressman Jon Runyan’s record to Hurricane Sandy, said the Runyan campaign today. …

"Shelley Adler should immediately take down this ridiculous and insulting ad, and publicly apologize to the people of Ocean and Burlington Counties, many of whom have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy," said Runyan Campaign Manager Kristin Antonello.

Adler’s advertisement is the latest in a string of episodes in which Democrats and liberal media outlets have politicized the storm, the North American death toll of which has climbed to at least 82.
