Israel's ambassador to the United States rejected the claim made yesterday by the head of the Democratic National Committee that he described the Republican party as "dangerous for Israel."
In an emailed statement, Amb. Michael Oren said "I categorically deny that I ever characterized Republican policies as harmful to Israel. Bipartisan support is a paramount national interest for Israel, and we have great friends on both sides of the aisle."
In a speech at the Democratic National Convention yesterday, Debbie Wasserman Schultz claimed, "We know, and I’ve heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel."
Wasserman Schultz, who frequently condemns Republicans for using Israel as a partisan issue, made the same claim about Oren in a recent interview with Hadassah Magazine.
