Harry Reid: Our Side Doesn't Have Many Billionaires

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) stated that the Democratic side "doesn't have many billionaires" Thursday during yet another rant against the philanthropist Koch Brothers.

While clamoring for campaign finance reform in the form of approving Sen. Tom Udall's (D., Colo.) amendment that would allow Congress to regulate the spending and raising of campaign money, Reid tried to go the populist route by making it seem as though there aren't many left-wing billionaires influencing the process.

"The decisions by the Supreme Court have left the American people with the status quo in which one side's billionaires are pitted against the other side's billionaires," he said. "Except one side doesn't have many billionaires. We must undo the damage done by the Supreme Court's recent campaign finance decisions, and we need to do it now."

Such billionaire figures as left-wing climate change fighter Tom Steyer, liberal mega-donor George Soros, and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, who pledged to spend $50 million promoting gun control this year, come to mind, among many others.

One would think Reid would be particularly familiar with Steyer, who recently donated $5 million to Senate Majority PAC, the pro-Democratic Super PAC run by former Reid aides.
