Fox News Hosts Gloat After Hillary Says Bill Clinton May Not Have 'Survived' if Fox Existed in 1992

The hosts of "Fox & Friends" were gleeful on Sunday morning after playing a clip of Hillary Clinton saying her husband Bill Clinton wouldn't have "survived" in 1992 if Fox News had existed at the time.

Speaking at a 25th anniversary event for the Clinton Foundation on Saturday, the 2016 Democratic nominee mourned that "our body politic" has been "impaired.

"There has been a concerted effort starting with the creation of the FOX network. It wasn't there when Bill first ran. It was one of the reasons he probably survived," Clinton said.

After watching the clip, Fox News host Ed Henry said, "Ah. Note the subtle—or not so subtle—'Bill survived in part because there was no Fox. I had to deal with Fox in 2008 and 2016. I lost both of those presidential races.' That's the part she didn't say, but maybe that's a little thought bubble up there."

Host Rachel Campos-Duffy called it an admission that the mainstream media was soft on Bill Clinton in his 1992 run. Clinton overcame a sex scandal at the time to storm to the Democratic nomination and defeat President George H. W. Bush in the general election.

"She's admitting that mainstream media let my husband [off] pretty easy ... Then Fox News came, and we have to deal with this," Campos-Duffy said.

Host Pete Hegseth said it seemed like a "dig" by Hillary Clinton against her husband.

"My guy did a lot of shady stuff ... If Fox had been there, they would have exposed it all," he said.

In a dig at Trump, Clinton also stated her husband did not "tweet" about his work in the 1990s but simply got things done.

"There was nothing fast and easy about it. He didn't tweet about it. He got to work about it, and he actually got it done," Clinton said.

Twitter was not founded until 2006, five years after the Clintons departed the White House.
