Detroit Councilwoman Wants Obama to Bail Out Detroit

'There ought to be a quid pro quo'

Detroit City Council member JoAnn Watson argued that since the citizens of Detroit voted President Barack Obama in office, he should bail out the fiscally strapped city at a city council meeting Tuesday night.

According to WJBK Detroit that first reported on Watson’s comments, three-quarters of Wayne County voters voted for a second Obama term.

There is a history of Washington bailing out cash-strapped cities. President Gerald Ford spotted $2 billion to New York City in 1975 to prevent financial trouble.

It is projected that Detroit will run out of money by next summer.
