Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz got her own taste of declaring, "The ayes have it," after a crowd of Democrats shouted "no."
The Democrats were electing party officers Tuesday at the DNC winter meeting, when some in the crowd wanted to separate out certain positions for a later vote.
Wasserman Schultz continued with her motion to suspend rules and vote in a slate of candidates with one vote — to loud "no" votes in the crowd. The DNC chair paused, and then noted, "The ayes have it."
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was forced to hold three votes on the reinsertion of pro-Israel language at the Charlotte convention last year, as Democrats in the convention crowd repeatedly voted no.
