DCCC Releases New Spanish-Language Ad on Medicare

The campaign arm of House Democrats on Monday launched a Spanish-language digital advertisement on Medicare that is meant to target vulnerable Republican lawmakers.

The ad, released by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, will air for a week on Google and Facebook for users who have their primary language set to Spanish, the Hill reported.

The Spanish ad, titled "No Pueden Parar" ("They Can't Stop" in English), will target vulnerable Republicans and open seats in six states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, and Texas. It also names House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), saying he and other GOP lawmakers have been "fighting against Medicare" for decades.

"They can't stop," a voice-over says. "Paul Ryan and the Republicans in Washington. Decades fighting against Medicare. Their most recent plan? $500 billion in cuts to Medicare."

"Ryan and the Republicans in Washington. Medicare is yours, not theirs," the voice-over concludes in the 15-second ad.

The DCCC also released an accompanying English-language ad, titled "Never Stop," that criticizes congressional Republicans over health care policy, calling for "change" in Washington.

DCCC spokesman Javier Gamboa told the Hill that "we are all at risk" with Republicans in office, but focused his comments on "Latino families" in an apparent effort to reach out to Hispanic voters for the 2018 midterm elections.

"Medicare has allowed millions of hard-working Latino families across the country to receive quality and affordable health care coverage," Gamboa said. "House Republicans will stop at nothing to rip away affordable health care coverage from their constituents, and we are all at risk as long as they're in office."
