President Obama's universally bad poll numbers are drowning Democrats in purple states up for reelection such as Sen. Mark Udall (D., Colo.), who didn't anticipate to be in dog fights this late in the year.
Udall has gone full bore running away from Obama, and has begun to distance himself from Obama's speech Wednesday evening detailing the White House's strategy combatting Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The only thing is, Udall is critiquing Obama for doing what exactly what Udall wants.
"The American people must be assured that we are not pursuing another open-ended conflict in the Middle East, and I will not give this president—or any other president—a blank check to begin another land war in Iraq," Udall said. Obama is not doing that.
"Hilariously wrong" indeed, Peter Hamby.
Udall is the first incumbent Coloradan senator not to debate his opponent on live Denver television.
