Bruce Braley: The John Edwards of 2014?

America Rising PAC released a new video on Thursday asking whether Rep. Bruce Braley (D., Iowa) is the John Edwards of the 2014 election cycle.

The Republican research group’s video includes footage of Braley receiving makeup at a "fake farm shoot." A campaign staffer for the Democratic Senate candidate at one point raises a notebook to block the shot.

The video also features clips of Edwards, the disgraced former Democratic politician, combing his hair before a TV interview. Edwards’ campaign infamously disclosed in 2007 that he had received two $400 haircuts from a Beverly Hills stylist. The revelation instantly drew criticism that he was elitist and out of touch.

Braley now faces the same problem. The former trial lawyer has seen his lead in the Iowa Senate race evaporate after he called Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), a popular figure in the farmer-heavy state, a "farmer from Iowa who never went to law school." A series of other questionable remarks have created the impression that Braley is disconnected from the interests of Iowa farmers and voters.

When Braley endorsed Edwards in 2007 for president, he noted that both were lawyers who had practiced law for at least 20 years. "As you can see we have nothing in common," Braley quipped.

At least they both "feel pretty."
