Vice Chair Rep. Kevin Brady (R., Texas) and Chair Sen. Robert Casey (D., Pa.) of the Joint Economic Committee spoke on "Squawk Box" this morning prior to today's Joint Economic Committee hearing on the fiscal cliff. Brady noted that he fears the president has already determined to take the country off the fiscal cliff:
KEVIN BRADY: The Senate was given the chance to vote on the president's fiscal proposal, Majority Leader Reid blocked that proposal. I worry that he's already decided to take us off this fiscal cliff to blame Republicans. It might be a short term political victory but it's terrible for the economy. I think that's the wrong way to go.
