Boehner: Unless Serious Discussion of Spending Cuts, ‘Real Danger of Going Off Fiscal Cliff’

Speaker knocks President Obama's Pennsylvania trip: Country 'doesn't need a victory lap'

Speaker John Boehner said there is a “real danger of going off the fiscal cliff,” unless there is a serious discussion of spending cuts with Democratic leadership, following a meeting with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on Capitol Hill.

Boehner said he was “disappointed” with the state of fiscal cliff talks and that it was time for the White House to “get serious.”

“No substantive progress has been made between the White House and the House in the last two weeks,” Boehner said.
