A Bernie Sanders ally mocked the Wednesday collision of a train containing Republican members of Congress that left at least one person dead.

Former union leader Jonathan Tasini cracked wise about both the crash and the announced retirement of Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy (S.C.).

"Wow, btwn train full of Goopers hitting truck and this, God is working hard today to clean up the stink. Thank her. #TreyGowdy #goptrainwreck," he said in a now-deleted tweet.

Tasini's Twitter bio describes himself as a "Bernie surrogate," a description backed up by a 2015 New York Times report.

"The Vermont senator who is battling [Hillary Clinton] for the Democratic nomination has invited Jonathan Tasini to join him on the campaign trail in New Hampshire on Saturday," they reported at the time. "While Mr. Tasini might not be a household name these days, he is quite familiar with Mrs. Clinton, having challenged her in a primary contest for her Senate seat in New York in 2006."

Under pressure, Tasini deleted the tweet and posted an apology that blamed the GOP and accused them of racism and criminality.

Tasini wasn't too repentant, quickly turning to attacking his critics and accusing the Republican Party of being killers.
