Comedian Amy Schumer came to the defense of the Senate's top Democrat on Tuesday after President Trump mocked "fake tears Chuck Schumer" on Twitter.

The comedian is the second cousin once removed to the senator on her father's side.

She responded to Trump's tweet with an Instagram post.

"I know Chuck Schumer and HE CANNOT act trust me," she wrote. "He can barely smile on cue. He can't help but be transparent and genuine. He was hurt for those people and all the people facing such unconstitutional injustice."

The comedian took the rest of the post as an opportunity to discuss what else she dislikes about Trump, saying that he is "about to bombard us with so many awful decisions."

Trump's tweet on Tuesday morning that inspired Schumer's post said, "Nancy Pelosi and Fake Tears Chuck Schumer held a rally at the steps of The Supreme Court and mic did not work (a mess)-just like Dem party!"

The tweet referred to when Schumer appeared to tear up when discussing the recent executive order temporarily halting immigration from seven countries over security concerns.

The comedian has been an outspoken critic of Trump and supported failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton during the presidential election.
