Obama's Gas Price Apology Tour

President Obama is planning a multi-state speaking tour to discuss energy policy

Amid mounting anxiety over record gas prices, President Obama is planning a multi-state speaking tour to discuss energy policy, The Hill reports.

President Obama will embark on a four-state tour next week to highlight his energy policies, according to a White House official.

The tour comes as gas prices continue to rise, reaching a national average of $3.83 Friday, according to AAA…

Obama will travel to Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Ohio on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the official, and deliver remarks in all four states.

Obama has already given four energy speeches over the past month, in which he has stressed there is "no silver bullet" when it comes to the federal government’s ability to combat rising gas prices.

Republicans, meanwhile, have hammered the president on energy policy, arguing that he is not doing everything in his power to expand domestic energy production. They point out, for instance, that oil production on federal land, which is directly under the administration’s control, has decreased since Obama took office.

The president has also rejected, twice, GOP efforts to advance construction on the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to refineries in Texas, and has urged Congress to end federal subsidies for domestic oil producers.

Republicans claim Obama’s actions do not comport with his administration’s professed commitment to an "all-of-the-above" energy strategy.
