Two American soldiers were shot and killed by a member of the Afghan Army Monday, in the latest "green on blue" attacks, according to the New York Times.

NATO confirmed Monday in a press conference that two soldiers had been killed, as well as the shooter, but did not disclose the soldiers' nationalities. The shooting took place after a dispute between U.S. and Afghan soldiers on patrol.

Forty-two Americans have been killed by Afghan police and soldiers this year, including 12 in the month of August, according to the Times.
