Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee flew into South Carolina Monday to campaign for Elizabeth Colbert Busch.
Colbert Busch, sister of comedian Stephen Colbert, is running against Republican Mark Sanford in a special election Tuesday for South Carolina’s first district. Jackson Lee served with Sanford prior to his leaving office in 2001. She told volunteers Sanford would only contribute to the partisan divide in Washington if he wins, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Meanwhile, the women’s group Independent Women’s Voices is spending $100,000 on ads opposing Colbert Busch.
Colbert Busch received money from the union PAC that sued to block Boeing from moving to South Carolina and she receives a taxpayer-funded salary at Clemson University despite doing no work while campaigning.
She has also refused to pledge to repeal Obamacare, wants to raise the debt ceiling, and will vote for the Nancy Pelosi agenda, according to IWV.
