Pryor: Obamacare ‘An Amazing Success Story So Far’

Sen. Mark Pryor (D., Ark.), one of 60 Democrats who voted for Obamacare in 2009, told WHOG the health care law has been “an amazing success story so far.”

Among numerous problems, the controversial health care law has caused many companies to lay off employees and shift others to part-time status to avoid paying penalties, and experts have openly questioned the president’s claim that the mandated health insurance exchanges will drive down insurance costs.

Members of Congress quizzed an administration official about the implementation of Obamacare at a hearing on Thursday morning, raising questions about the risks of fraud and rising health insurance prices, and others have expressed concerns about the legality of Obamacare’s exchange subsidies.

The law, which passed without any Republican votes, has lost moderate Democratic support in the past year. The delay of the employer mandate until 2015 also drew criticism.

Rep. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) announced he would run in 2014 against Pryor Tuesday and was already shown with a lead over him in a recent poll.
