Perry Rips Iran Deal as 'National Embarrassment:' Time to End Era of American Weakness

At Americans for Prosperity's Defending the Dream Summit Republican presidential candidate and former Texas Governor Rick Perry called out the details of the Iran nuclear deal, as well as the secret side agreements that were not released to Congress to review.

"See today we finally know what hope and change finally meant. It was a delusional mindset, absent from the confines of reality," Perry said. "Where the largest state sponsor of terrorism is dreamed to be an honest broker in meeting the terms of a nuclear agreement. This delusion is so strong that just this last week we learned the details of a secret deal with the side agreements with Iran and the United Nations inspectors. Iran is going to be allowed to do its own inspections. Now they are going to be able to go into one of the most secretive places, that Parchin nuclear site, and do their own inspections. No wonder our administration has tried to keep it secret."

Perry called the secret agreements an embarrassment and was met with applause. Perry said that the United State previously used to negotiate with a position of strength and under the current administration the negotiations have come from a place of weakness.

"This is a president who thought he could speak things into existence. I thought he was thinking about the first chapter of Genesis. It's been two years since he addressed the issue of Assad," Perry said.

Assad has remained in power and has continually attacked the people of Syria.

"It is time for us to end American weakness," Perry said to a fired up crowd.

The final vote on the Iran nuclear deal is set for September 17.
