Obama Says We Need to Call ISIS What It Is, But Then Won't Call Them Radical Islamic Terrorists

During President Obama's last State of the Union address Tuesday night, he called for the Islamic State to be named what they really are, but within the next breath he called them "fanatics" instead of radical Islamic terrorists.

"But as we focus on destroying ISIL, over-the-top claims that this is World War III just play into their hands. Masses of fighters on the back of pickup trucks twisted souls plotting in apartments or garages, they pose an enormous danger to civilians. They have to be stopped. But they do not threaten our national existence. That is the story ISIL wants to tell. That’s the kind of propaganda they use to recruit. We don’t need to build them up to show that we’re serious, and we sure don't need to push away vital allies in this fight by echoing the lie that ISIL is somehow representative of one of the world’s largest religions. We just need to call them what they are: killers and fanatics who have to be rooted out, hunted down, and destroyed," Obama said.

Obama went on to tout the United States-led coalition for more than 60 countries to combat the radical Islamic terrorist group. He highlighted the over 10,000 air strikes as well as the arming, training, and supporting of forces in Iraq and Syria.

He called out Congress for not taking a vote on authorizing the use of military force against ISIS. Obama then said that even if Congress did not vote on authorizing military force, ISIS would learn the same lessons as the terrorists before them. Obama then took a victory lap, highlighting that while he was president Osama bin Laden was killed.
