Haley Rips Russia's Covering for Syria's Chemical Weapons Use: 'At Some Point You Have to Say Enough'

US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley continued to hit Russia Friday for its covering up of Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons use, telling reporters "at some point you have to say enough."

Haley has consistently railed against Syria's chemical weapons use and Russia for providing cover through vetoes of various resolutions meant to hold the Assad regime to account.

"At some point you have to do something," Haley told reporters. "At some point you have to say enough. We saw what happened in Salisbury. This is a renewed effort to bring chemical weapons back into mainstream, and we can't let that happen."

Haley's remarks about Salisbury referred to a chemical agent attack last month in Britain on former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, which investigators have concluded Russia carried out.

Haley derided Russia's claim the attack on the rebel-held suburb of Douma last week was staged, saying three separate analyses have concluded the chemical attack occurred.

President Donald Trump threatened a "big price to pay" for the attack on Sunday, but he has since weighed out whether to carry out a military response to the latest chemical attack by Assad. Haley praised his approach.

"I am unbelievably proud of how President Trump has looked at the information, analyzed, not let anyone rush him into this, because he has said from the beginning, we have to know if we're right, we have to know all the information, we have to know that there's proof, and we have to know that we're taking every precaution necessary should we take action," she said. "And so for that I'm very proud to be a part of his team."
