Corker: ‘Top-to-Bottom Review’ of State Dept. Needed on Benghazi

Clinton to testify Wednesday on Sept. 11, 2012 attack

Sen. Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) does not expect any "bombshells" from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's testimony before Congress Wednesday about the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, but he does anticipate questions about the overall effectiveness of Obama administration policy against al-Qaeda and thinks a "top-to-bottom" review of the State Department is needed.

"There is also the issue of just the administration's overall policy, and the fact that they were spiking the ball on al-Qaeda throughout the course of this entire campaign, and yet we're seeing what's happening now in Mali and Algeria and other places," Corker said. "Certainly what happened in Libya. So there is this overall big question of how this administration is dealing with extremists and militants and the fact that they have focused so much on the Afghan-Pakistan area … It's as if they have taken their eye off the ball."
