Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel will strike back if Syria tries to attack, Israel Hayom reported.
"The State of Israel is ready for any scenario," Netanyahu said. "We are not part of the civil war in Syria but if we identify any attempt whatsoever to harm us, we will respond, and we will respond with great might."
Meanwhile, Yaakov Amidror, Netanyahu's national security adviser, met in Washington on Tuesday with his U.S. counterpart, Susan Rice.
Netanyahu held an urgent meeting with Israeli national security officials on Tuesday to address Syria's threats against Israel. According to Israel Hayom, Israeli officials say that Syrian retaliation on Israel is not likely, however Israel is prepared to avenge any attempt against it.
"Those who dare to test us will encounter the might of the IDF," Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said, according to Israel Hayom.
