Top 5 Guns For a Bump in the Night

October 27, 2014

Gun experts and YouTube stars of IraqVeteran8888 have posted a video of the five guns they recommend for your bedside.

The guys showcased a number of classic firearms alongside a few newcomers in case of a "bump in the night."

The first is an American mainstay: a 12-gauge pump shotgun, the Mossberg 590. They recommended adding a light to the shotgun.

The AR-15, also with an added light, is their next recommendation. That is also the gun Bob Owens of Bearing Arms said he prefers.

In a bit of a twist, they listed a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm with a suppressor and, of course, a light. They say the suppressor will help protect your hearing and situational awareness while firing indoors. The added cost and hassle of acquiring a suppressor due to onerous federal gun control may make this difficult to acquire, but the idea is nice.

The Kel-tec KSG bullpup pump shotgun is the next, and perhaps most interesting, gun they bring up. Citing its compact design, high-capacity dual magazines, and ability to swap between different types of ammunition, they said this shotgun is ideal for home defense. They again recommend pairing the firearm with a light.

Next up is the reliable, if not predictable, combination of a Glock 23 and a handheld light. The guys at IraqVeteran8888 point to the advantages of using the handheld light to mask your location in the dark as a reason why this combination is so effective and popular.

The Smith & Wesson Governor is the showcased as a bonus gun. The innovative wheel gun can handle 45 acp, 45 long colt, and 410 shotgun loads which the IraqVeteran8888 guys love.
