Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing With No Wheels

A small plane in San Diego miraculously landed without wheels, pulling off what some are calling a "spectacular" feat, NBC San Diego reports.

Student pilot Max Fitzmaurice was flying on Sunday when he noticed a Cessna 210 attempting to land. The small plane, which was flying around San Diego’s North County, attempted to land, but the pilot soon discovered that the wheels from the landing gear would not emerge.

The pilot called the airport’s control tower to notify them of the urgent situation. After a few failed tries to land at the Oceanside airport and the pilot’s repeated attempts to deploy the landing gear, air traffic controllers gave the desperate pilot the go ahead to land at Montgomery Regional Airport, where more adequate resources such a better equipped emergency response are available.

Fitzmaurice reported that the pilot instead opted to land at the McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad.

The student pilot landed his plane shortly before the Cessna’s landing and caught the miraculous landing on camera.

The Cessna experienced a few hard bumps as well as significant skidding before finally coming to a screeching halt.

"The guy did a great job landing. I mean, spectacular," Fitzmaurice said of the landing.
