Jimmy Kimmel Show Interviews People Who Know More Avengers Than U.S. Presidents

April 14, 2016

ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live may have proven why the United States deserves whatever punishment may await us in the form of the next president.

Before hosting several actors from the popular Avengers movie series, Kimmel had someone go out onto a street in Los Angeles and asked random passersby to name as many of the Avengers characters as possible, and then as many American presidents as possible.

Several of the participants were able to name some of the Avengers, such as Iron Man, Black Widow, and the Incredible Hulk. When it came to the presidents, for the most part, not so many.

One participant listed eight avengers. Then he was asked to name presidents.

"Grover Washington," the man said.

To be clear, the name Grover Washington, Jr., belongs to a musician, not an American president.

Another participant listed random television characters when asked about the Avengers. His guesses at the presidents didn't have him fare much better.

"Name as many U.S. presidents as you can," the correspondent said.

"Ah, forget it, I mean, I don't vote. I don't vote and I'm not political and I'm not religious," the man said.

"But do you know any U.S. presidents?" the correspondent asked.

"Oh yeah, I mean, Jackson, Perot," he replied.

One listed Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Edison.

Yet another respondent listed Thomas Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Donald Trump.

Finally, in a glimmer of hope for our country, one respondent was able to list most of the America's chief executives before stopping in the 20th century.
