HBO has signed a deal with Crooked Media to broadcast several live shows of the liberal podcast "Pod Save America" later this year.

The HBO shows will involve the hosts, four former Obama administration staffers, broadcasting from the campaign trail during the 2018 midterm elections, the New York Times reported.

"The 2018 midterms are the most important elections of our lifetime, and the energy and excitement on the campaign trail is infectious," the "Pod Save America" hosts said in a statement.

The twice-weekly podcast is hosted by a group of former Obama administration staffers led by former speechwriter Jon Favreau. He co-hosts the show along with Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor.

Crooked Media was founded in early 2017 after the quartet hosted a podcast called "Keepin' It 1600" on Bill Simmons's website The Ringer.

"When [Hillary] lost, I think we all had this existential crisis, where it didn't feel right to wake up every day and obsess about politics and what's happening in the country, and then go to work doing something else," Vietor told Recode in March, shortly after creating the company.

Since its creation, Crooked Media has launched several podcasts including the foreign-policy centric "Pod Save the World," and the social-justice oriented "Pod Save the People."
