Resignation imminent (probably)

President Obama may not be on the ballot this year, but he is having an election-inspired existential crisis. Democrats want nothing to do with him, and his failed leadership is directly to blame for rocket explosions.

The Washington Post reports that watching Democrats across the country try to dissociate themselves from the president has hurt Obama’s feelings:

With so many Democrats trying to suggest a distance from Obama that doesn’t exist, Axelrod added, it’s natural for the president and his team "to be a little frustrated."

Another senior Democrat who advises the White House, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said the current feeling among Obama and his aides is "exasperation."

Obama has suggested as much in public statements that have only made life more difficult for Democrats running for office.

"I’m not on the ballot this fall," Obama said earlier this month. "But make no mistake: These policies are on the ballot, every single one of them."

Weeks later, in an interview with Al Sharpton, the president insisted that Democratic incumbents "are all folks who vote with me, they have supported my agenda in congress…These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me."

Unfortunately for Obama, his lack of popularity will likely result in a GOP-controlled Senate. If that happens, the Free Beacon’s forecasting model predicts that he will resign in order to pursue becoming a member of the global cultural elite.
