Lady Angling on the Rise Thanks to Delayne Collins

Last week, a photogenic Belgian fan lost her endorsement deal because her Facebook page was mined for a pic of her posing next to a gazelle she had killed. Meanwhile, the Interwebs is littered with all sorts lady anglers hoisting their hard-earned prizes and no one says peep. Is it because all fish look the same?

It must be, because there're a million lady fishers in/on the sea. Lady anglers just like Delayne Collins.

According to a study by the Outdoor Foundation, about 47 million people fished in 2012; 4.5 million of those were trying fishing for the first time. 41 percent of virgin anglers were female, which is a record. However, Delayne is no rookie. She's been flipping fishscales since she was three.

After all, fishing is as American as patriotic bikinis.

Also American: firearms. Although, it remains to be seen if Delayne is as sure a shot on land as she is in water.

Delayne isn't always grinding out hours out on a shanty boat. As a native Floridian and proud Seminole fan, she must have felt a little out of place among mint juleps, Wildcats, and Cardinals.

She says her biggest catch weighed in at about 9 and half pounds. Billy the Martin looks considerably heavier than that.

Delayne's dream is to be sponsored by a fishing company because, hey, don't we all want to be paid for doing something we love? Heck, I'd buy a lure if I saw Delayne rocking a Bass Pro Shop two-piece way before seeing some dude drive his car in a circle for three hours.

Like any red-blooded American, Delayne would obviously like to leverage her fishing talents into more lucrative opportunities.

Hey, Powell rods, give Delayne a chance. She's bringing more visibility to fishing than that dude you're paying to be on your home page right now.
