I Was Wrong: Johnny JamBoogie Showed Up on Sunday

The debut of Johnny Manziel did not unfold quite like I thought it would.

The Browns were shutout 30 to 0 by the Bengals. Johnny threw for just 80 yards and threw two interceptions. He was bad, and he knows it.

But he wasn't the only awful thing about the Browns on Sunday. The Brown's defense completely fell apart, allowing 5 yards per carry to both Bengals running backs for a total of 244 total yards. Top corner Joe Haden and first round pick Justin Gilbert were both lost to injury.

Nothing was worse, however, than the Brown's Johnny Football-led offense. Here is a list of their ten drives yesterday, all ending with a punt or an interception:

This is not the end of the world for Johnny. To me, it seemed as though Johnny was not his true self on Sunday, and possibly needed a Snickers.

Johnny has lost before, and he knows how to bounce back.

As an unknown freshman at Texas A&M, Johnny lost in his first start of the season against Florida. Everybody knows what happened next. Johnny had one of the best seasons of all time. He led the Aggies to an 11-2 season and became the first ever freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

So the opener might not have worked out as well as I thought it would, but don't sleep on Johnny Football.
