'Can We Take a Joke?' Trailer

June 9, 2016

This looks like a good and important documentary:

The simple answer to the titular question is "no." We live in an age when many people think comedy serves only one purpose, to promote the various causes of liberalism and leftwing thinking. This is why there are constant exhortations to "not punch down" and "punching down" is defined as "making fun of anyone inside of the Democratic coalition." This is why websites like "Funny or Die" double as Democratic clearinghouses, where Obama administration allies bankroll "comedy" bits aimed at denigrating enemies of the Iran nuclear deal. This is why so much of the Take-Industrial Complex consists of people who look to Marge Simpson as a hero, morphing into an angry squirrel and screeching "Don't do that! Don't do that! Hey! Don't DO that!" every time they see something that they find offensive—or think some poor, downtrodden member of the underclass might possibly be offended by.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the documentary. With any luck we'll get a thousand pieces from people who are very sad that the comedians interviewed just don't get it, man, comedians need to "fight the power," and by "fight the power" I mean "parrot the right-think of the left-of-center web."
