Bill Gertz on ‘Fox & Friends’ Discussing the Latest Cyber Threat to Obamacare

February 5, 2014

The Washington Free Beacon’s Bill Gertz appeared on Fox News Wednesday morning to discuss recent revelations that the Obamacare website is reportedly linked to malicious malware developers from Belarus.

Gertz, whose article revealed the Obamacare website security-Belarus flub, told Fox and Friends’ Steve Doocy that a Belarusian official told him last week that their software is now on every hospital computer and healthcare network in the United States, causing the U.S. intelligence community to urge the Department of Health and Human Services to launch a review to find out if the threats were real. The security problem could lead to espionage, privacy, data loss, and other cyber threats.

Gertz also spoke with Rep. Mike Rogers (R., Mich.), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who told him that the real concern is that the healthcare network is connected to seven different hubs within the federal government. Rogers warned that if someone is able to get past even a single firewall in the Obamacare exchange website, that person will have access to sensitive databases that include the IRS and Department of Homeland Security.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R., Minn.) also questioned the House Intelligence Committee yesterday about their knowledge of the Belarus threat. All claimed not to have any knowledge, but Gertz doubts they did not have previous knowledge.

"I think somebody on that panel is not telling the truth," Gertz said. "My suspicion is it has to do with C.I.A. This report was produced by a group at the C.I.A. It’s clear that what the message was here this is undermining a major policy program of the president and they immediately withdrew the report. I interviewed Congresswoman Michele Bachmann yesterday and she said she is going to pursue this. She suspects there may have been politicization of intelligence."
