Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci was forced to relive his infamous interview with the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
In his first interview since being fired from the Trump administration after less than two weeks on the job, Scaramucci looked on, sometimes ruefully nodding and smiling, as host George Stephanopoulos played some of the more colorful parts of the vulgar interview that led to his dismissal.
They included his calling then-Chief of Staff Reince Priebus a "fucking paranoid schizophrenic" and saying of White House strategist Steve Bannon: "I'm not Steve Bannon. I'm not trying to suck my own cock."
Scaramucci reiterated that he felt the interview with Lizza was "off the record" and it was a "very deceitful thing" that Lizza did.
"Lots of reporters tape phone calls," Stephanpoulos said.
"George, I didn't say I didn't do the wrong thing," Scaramucci said. "I want to be totally accountable for what I did, and obviously I paid the consequences of having that sort of conversation with him."
He added he was "honorably dismissed" and took it.
His firing capped a tumultuous period within the Trump White House. Press Secretary Sean Spicer reportedly resigned in protest of Scaramucci's appointment, and Priebus was forced out shortly before Scaramucci was fired.
